Peercast plugin for Winamp

A Peercast plugin is available for Winamp that is compatible with versions 2.x / 5.x.

This plugin requires no special configuration and can be used by clients to easily receive Peercast Radio or Television stations.

Here are the steps for installing the Peercast plugin :

  • Download the Peercast plugin.
  • Once the Peercast plugin is downloaded to your computer click on it to install.
  • The Peercast plugin will then open and automatically install within Winamp.
  • Winamp will next launch and be configured to use the Peercast network.


  • Note
    You must have ports 7144 and 7145 open in your Firewall / Router for Peercast to work properly.


    To verify that you have the Peercast plugin properly installed in Winamp, simply follow these steps :


  • Open Winamp.
  • Press the Control key and the P key together to open the Winamp Preferences window.





  • Click on General Purpose in the Plug ins section.
  • Click on PeerCast (gen_peercast.dll) in the right hand area.
  • Click on the Configure selected plug-in button at the bottom middle of the Winamp Preferences window.
  • The Peercast plugin window will open up.




  • Make sure that the plugin indicates Enabled in the lite gray area.
  • Click OK.



  • To remove the Peercast plugin :

  • Re-open the Winamp Preferences window ( Control + P ).
  • Click on General Purpose under the Plug ins section.
  • Click on PeerCast (gen_peercast.dll) in the right hand area.
  • Click on the Uninstall selected plug-in button at the bottom right of the Winamp Preferences window.
  • A confirmation window will open asking you to verify that you want to permanently uninstall the plugin.
  • Click Yes.
  • Winamp will uninstall the Peercast plugin and close.
