Peercast Video Guide
There are two methods for streaming video using
Peercast.
Relay a existing non P2P stream.
(NSV - Windows Media Video )
- Launch Peercast client
- Go to Broadcast page
(http://localhost:7144/html/en/broadcast.html)
- Enter information of station to be relayed :
- - URL (http://ip_address:port_number /;file_name.nsv)
(http://ip_address:port_number /file_name.wmv or ogm)
- - Name
- - Description
- - Genre
- - Contact
- - Britrate
- - Type (Select appropriate
stream mime type)
- Click Relay
- The relayed station should be listed in the
Peercast YP station directory momentarily
Direct Stream
(Peercast acts as a server for P2P Network.)
NullSoft Video
Configure Peercast client
- Launch Peercast client
- Go to settings page (http://localhost:7144/html/en/settings.html)
- Enter password
- Click Save
Configure video stream input software
- Use password set from Peercast
- use IP address of computer hosting Peercast
client (localhost if Peercast client is located on the same computer as the
video stream input software. If not, enter IP address of computer
hosting Peercast client.)
- use port 7144
Start video input software
- Station should be listed in the Peercast YP station directory
momentarily
Windows Media Video
Configure Windows Media encoder client
- Launch the Windows Media encoder client
- In new session window, select broadcast a live
event
- In device options window, select video input
and audio input devices
- In broadcast method window, select pull from
encoder
- In broadcast connection window:
- - Select port number
- - Select URL location of Peercast
client (Default port number is 7144, localhost for URL if Windows
encoder and Peercast client are on the same computer. If not, enter IP
Address of computer hosting Peercast client.)
- In encoding options window:
- - Select method to encode audio
and video
- - Select bitrate to encode audio
and video
- Click Finish
